Celebrating 3 Years of contributing to effective healthcare delivery in Africa
StradMed is excited to celebrate 3 Years of striving to contribute to effective healthcare delivery in Africa through the power of design thinking, new product development and biomedical engineering. With an ambitious start in 2022, our work has been motivated by the ability to implement these research innovations to create local solutions to solve local problems in Africa.
Our work over the past 3 years has been:
Year 1: Engaged stakeholders in the health sector to identify challenges in the health sector and trained our first cohort in design thinking and the use of the mural board for easy collaboration.
Year 2: Trained our 2nd cohort of Interns for 6 months, which included 3 months of training in design thinking and new product development on 2 challenges and another 3 months for prototyping with Innovate Labs (Ghana).
Year 3: Trained 2 cohorts of Interns for 6 months, including training in Design thinking and 3 in prototype development.
The prototypes we are currently working on are:
- Saliva/Sputum sample collection device
- Nebulizer
- Device for deep vein thrombosis
It is also important to share and acknowledge the brains and emerging innovators who were key and instrumental in our work over the past years!
